Kerri McNeill Keenen joined Cunningham Contracts Group in 2022 as part of the Higher Level Apprentice scheme working to train and develop to become a qualified Quantity Surveyor.
Higher Level Apprenticeships offer qualifications as well as the skills an employer needs revelant to their industry. The scheme significantly improves the prospect of sustained employment for the apprentice alongside earning as they learn.
Kerri gained A Level qualifications in Double Construction and Business and is currently studying BSc Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at Ulster University.
Kerri enjoys the bracing of the elements being outdoors with her role on one of our construction sites. Being exposed to the onsite environment, Kerri is able to put her taught theory at university into practice.
When not on site, Kerri participates in mananging and controlling the cost elements on construction projects. She has also picked up valuable insights from being involved in pre-construction tendering, working alongside experienced colleagues who are committed to developing Kerri’s skill set to ensure she is able to contribute to the efficiency and productivity of her team.
Already Kerri has impressed her industry peers and colleagues. She was nominated for the Newry Chamber Employee & Teams ‘Best HLA Award’ in recongition of her contribution to Cunningham Contracts and as a result can take enormous pride in her work.
Although Kerri is a relatively new member of the team, she has built good working relationships with her colleagues and is motivated by the positive team attitude.
Since her apprenticeship journey began, Kerri has the benefit of the open approach to knowledge sharing within the business. It is the collaborative approach and collectively celebrating achievements that Kerri says makes Cunningham Contracts a brilliant place to work.
