Kildare County Council and Housing Department Officials visit Maynooth Landmark Development Showcasing Bio-Based Solutions

On Wednesday 17th December, we welcomed a delegation from Kildare County Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage at our Fitzgerald Close, Greenfields development in Maynooth.

This landmark project introduces first of its kind nature-based solutions, incorporating bio-retention and detention basins. These innovative features harness natural processes and green infrastructure to manage stormwater flow into the drainage network while filtering pollutants, an important step toward sustainable urban development.

During the visit, the delegation toured the site with a particular interest in the bio-based solutions and explored the various dwelling layouts. The development comprises:
· 26 Timber frame houses
· 28 Apartments
· 11 Duplex Apartments
13 of the layouts have been designed for less able or universal design standards. The project has been awarded a Silver Home Performance Index certificate.
