Cunningham is delighted to announce our partnership with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo on their civil engineering apprenticeship programme, which will provide an opportunity for apprentices to earn and learn and gain a higher education qualification. Cunningham are proud to be early adapters of the programme, and to be among some of the first industry employers in Ireland employing degree apprentices.
These apprenticeships based at ATU’s Sligo campus are led by the Civil Engineering Apprenticeship Consortium consisting of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI), Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), Uisce Éireann, the Local Government Management Association (LGMA), Engineers Ireland and Atlantic Technological University.
With continuing shortages of civil engineers being reported by industry, the new apprenticeship programme was established to entice more uptake into this profession, and Cunningham are keen to play our part in supporting the talent of the future.
We have this week welcomed our two new apprentices from ATU, Iseult Talbot and Ronan McConologue. We are also delighted to confirm that our successful Higher Level Apprenticeship programme in Northern Ireland has grown, with the addition of Ethan O’Connor who has also joined us this month as a HLA in Digital Construction Management.
